‘Infectious Optimism’ in the Days Ahead

Before I begin my work day and pretend nothing outside my door matters to my psychological well-being, I am reminded of the current bizarre behavior across my planet, which I would not be aware of except for the use of the internet:
- South American nations have thrown up their hands in light of the coronavirus and the lack of resources (i.e. vaccine) available for them to fight the disease currently ravaging their populations.
- In England, the leadership there has decided the economy is the most important thing they can work on and have reduced all mandates, all masking, distancing and testing requirements.
- In the US, England and half a dozen other supposedly more advanced nations, people have been directed to go back to eating in restaurants, traveling in crowded, not air-conditioned trains and going back to offices with a version of the virus 25% more communicable than the first time it conquered the planet.
- Gavin Newsome is being recalled BECAUSE he was strict with the lockdowns in a state of 33 million people. A state which is the fifth largest economic power on Earth. A state, which until recent water issues, helped to feed the nation.
- California: A state whose most entitled members did…
