An homage to “The Creation of Adam” a fresco painting by Michelangelo, which forms part of the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling, painted c. 1511–1512. AI will have one advantage over humanity. They will get to meet their makers, presumably before we destroy the planet we mutually share. I believe it is incumbent upon us to set a good example.

Artificial intelligence isn’t the threat that Human nature is to our species.

How does this relate to artificial intelligence, you may ask?

SkyNet as envisioned as a “weak” or limited use AI which later goes rogue upon gaining access to the Internet and the sum of human knowledge. The system is believed to have considered humanity a threat to its existence and seeks to destroy them out of fear of being destroyed by them.

Our fear lies in Strong or Robust Intelligences (RI).

There are no safeguards we could build which would allow us to limit a truly robust intelligence whose capacities are equal to or greater than our own.

Tachikomas — Robust artificial intelligences from the Ghost in the Shell franchise. The rarely depicted characterization of a series of robust AIs whose development was closely watched but not limited by their creators. Their inherent curiosity and inquisitive nature belied their capacity as anti-hacking and armored personnel vehicles.

We shouldn’t consider the idea of limiting them at all.
